History: A teenaged Joe DiMaggio joined the Seals as a shortstop after older brother Vince, already with the club, got him a tryout. In 1933, his first full season with his hometown Seals, Joltin' Joe (#10) posted a.340 batting average and had a 61-game hitting streak, five games better than his Major League record streak with the Yankees eight years later.

The 1931 season saw the opening of magnificent Seals Stadium where the club remained until the end. Joe Dimaggio began his career with the Seals and had a 61-game hitting streak in 1933. The most beloved Seal was Lefty O'Doul who both played for and managed the club.
